MVBS Presents Summer Festival June 29th, 2013

The Mohawk Valley Blues Society and
Northern Safety present guitar great Jimmy Thackery (former Nighthawk), harmonica aces Tad Robinson and Dennis Gruenling with Steve Guyger, Buffalo blues diva Patti Parks, the MVBS's Tas Cru and his Band of Tortured Souls, Double Barrel Blues Band, Women in Blues Revue and Mohawk Valley Blues All-Stars.

Snubbing PostThe first monthly MVBS Jam is held at The Snubbing Post, located on Rt. 46N, halfway between Rome and the Delta Lake State Park. On June 12th, the jam is hosted by Mohawk Valley Blues All-Stars. The MVBS Jam is open to all blues musicians, and gives our member artists a chance to play with each other, network and explore musically. For non-member jammers, it is an opportunity to see what the society is about, and why they should consider becoming a member. Mohawk Valley Blues All-Stars will open the show with a set at 7 p.m., and jammers follow in order of the sign-up board. Click here for more info on the monthly MVBS Jam. |
Ramada InnThe second monthly MVBS Jam is held at The Ramada Inn, located at 141 New Hartford Street, New Hartford. On May 22nd, the jam is hosted by Bernie Clarke and the Rhythm Sharks. The MVBS Jam is open to all blues musicians, and gives our member artists a chance to play with each other, network and explore musically. For non-member jammers, it is an opportunity to see what the society is about, and why they should consider becoming a member. EVENTS
Since 2005, the society has hosted monthly jams, and presented several festivals, school presentations, charity events and concerts by touring blues artists, including the Holmes Brothers, C.J. Chenier and the Red Hot Lousiana Band, Coco Montoya, John Hammond, Duke Robillard and Jerry Portnoy, Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials, and many others. For a listing of events, click here.
PROJECTS
The Mohawk Valley Blues Society is a resource that helps bring education about America’s indigenous form of music to the community, through workshops, its Blues in the Schools program, and partnering with other local and national organizations to help promote better understanding of the musical form.
